Who Said Traditions Had to Be Old?

Weddings are a time to make memories, and if you’re the kind of bride that love to takes risks, you can also make a few new traditions on your wedding day too.

More and more brides are looking for ways to spice up their wedding days with a new or special event that’s sure to be remembered, and hopefully, repeated.

Here are a few new traditions that modern brides are making famous:

1.) Trashing the dress is the alternative to the well-preserved gown in Grandma’s attic. After the wedding, brides get adventurous and go on a photo shoot where they can tromp through mud, water, the woods, or even down the beach – without having to worry if the dress gets dirty or ripped. Afterwards, use the leftover fabric to make pillows for your guest room. The result: awesome photos (and pillows!) that give you something truly memorable.

2.) Loft spaces, old factories and warehouses, galleries, or museums are now the setting for weddings and receptions instead of the traditional church, hotel, or banquet hall. Start a new trend in your family by choosing a place that’s unique to you and your hubby-to-be’s interests.

3.) Throw out the huge cake and give your guests something unique, like an ice cream or dessert bar that they can choose from to get something sweet after your ceremony. Cupcakes, pies, tarts, pastries, chocolates, or even root beer floats can take the place of wedding cake on your special day and still be fun and delicious.

5 Ways to Look Your Best on Your Wedding Day

When you’re trying to look your best on your wedding day, you can’t afford not to go over all of the little details of your ensemble. To make sure you look like a vision on your special day, consider these 5 tips from Daisy-Days.com on getting your look right:

1.) Make sure you look at yourself from the back. If you want to show off the back of your gown, go with a very sheer veil or one that’s shorter. You can also go without any veil at all! Fascinators are a perfect way to add something special to your hair without having to take away from the look of the back of your dress.

2.) Pay attention to your undergarments. Make it a point to try on your entire bridal ensemble before the big day so you can make sure that there are no lines, bumps, bulges, or see-through issues that could keep you from looking your best on your big day.

3.) When going to your fittings, bring the undergarments you plan on wearing so that you get the right fit and look. Also bring along your slimmer, stockings, shoes, and other accessories to a fitting to ensure that your dress turns out with the right shape and measurements.

4.) If you’re wearing a dress that is sheer, figure conscious, or very flowy, consider forgoing the traditional underwear in favor of a thong, body slimmer, or a pair of hose with a cotton crotch sewn in. This will eliminate wedgies, not to mention, unflattering panty lines.

5.) Have an “emergency” bag with one of your bridesmaids or trusted family members on your special day that includes spare pantyhose, nail polish, makeup, hair spray, bobby pins, or any other little essentials to touch up your look.

Wedding Trend We Love: Dessert as a Centerpiece!

How many times have you gone to a wedding only to find boring, traditional flowers as a centerpiece? Well, now that’s about to change. More and more brides are looking to add something sweet to their special day by opting to display dessert, chocolates, or other treats as a centerpiece that both looks beautiful and that guests can enjoy.

Pies, cakes, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, and even homemade truffles can now be found in the center of any wedding table, which makes them a beautiful and unexpected touch that’s sure to be a hit. All you need to make this gorgeous centerpiece are just some baked goods and a unique stand or container. Cake platters, glass cookie jars, cupcake towers, antique kitchen scales, or even old-fashioned fruit crates make the perfect display base for this alternative centerpiece.

Finally, to tie this look all together, be sure to serve up some dessert-themed wedding favors that your guests can take home after they’ve sampled the centerpiece. We highly recommend using towel cake wedding favors along with this fun centerpiece idea to ensure that your wedding day is as sweet as can be!
