Our Royal Wedding Recap

The day is finally here! This morning, Prince William and Kate Middleton finally tied the knot! We’ve been watching the wedding coverage over here in the states since the wee hours of the morning and we have to say, this is definitely an affair to remember. While all of the wedding details haven’t been released yet, there are a few that we’ve absolutely fallen in love with already and can’t wait to see incorporated in to weddings this season!

Here are some of the details that you’ll want to include in your special day to add a touch of royal flair:

Wedding Hats & Fascinators

Oh, the hats! We’ve seen all types of hats this morning and we have to say, we’re really liking this new trend. We seem to have gotten away from wearing hats, but the royal wedding will certainly bring that back. One of the most common style of hats that we’re seeing is the small fascinator style or a pillbox hat accented with a birdcage veil. Want to get the look? Try our Cage Veil Bridal Hat Headpiece!

Simple Tiaras Paired with Long Lace Veils

How gorgeous did Kate look this morning?!? She was absolutely breathtaking in a simple Cartier tiara and lace trimmed veil. You can bet that brides will copy this look by pairing sparkling rhinestone tiaras with simple fingertip or waltz length lace veils. Capture the look with our dazzling Swarovski Tiara and a lace veil.

The Swarovski Tiara is fit for a princess. It features swirling and sparkling crystal accents backed by a silver setting. Its classic, fairytale styling makes it a great fit for any bride, especially if she’s using Kate Middleton as a style inspiration!

lace veil

A lace veil is a romantic touch for any bride and at Daisy-Days.com, we’ve fallen in love with the Scalloped Lace Bridal Veil. This breathtaking fingertip length veil features scalloped edging and delicate lace detailing for a luxurious but classic look. Pair with a sparkling rhinestone tiara for a look a la Kate!

Lace Wedding Gowns

The minute we saw Kate’s dress, we thought: She looks so much like Grace! As you know, Grace Kelly was a Hollywood starlet turned real princess. Her dress, which was regarded as one of the iconic pieces of all time, featured a long sleeved lace top accented by a full ballgown skirt. It was very chic for the time period and has since inspired countless copycat designs. While Kate’s dress was an Alexander McQueen creation, it did remind us very much of Grace Kelly’s wedding gown with lacy sleeves, lace trimmed veil, and a sleek style. So gorgeous!

A Rose Is A Rose…But Is That All?

From bountiful bouquets to bridal barrettes, flowers play a special role in weddings. And, we all have our favorite flowers due to design, color, fragrance, or sentiment.  But do you know the meaning of flowers? Depending upon origin and culture, there are many variations, but we have shared some of our personal favorites.

Rose: The red rose is often a sign of love and passion, but other colors can convey additional meanings as well.  A white rose represents innocence where a yellow rose expresses friendship and happiness. Pink can mean admiration, and orange, appreciation.  Rose is also the flower of the month of June, as well as the flower celebrating the 15th wedding anniversary.

Daffodil: The daffodil is a sign of spring and good luck. This flower just beams with joy and happiness, and is also the flower of March and to celebrate a 10th wedding anniversary. (Oh! And we heard that this flower would be gracing the royal wedding cake tomorrow, along with roses, thistles, and shamrocks – we can’t wait to see the design!)

Hydrangea: The hydrangea is a large, full flower that is practically a bouquet all on its own.  The color is determined by the level of acid it the soil.  While some associate the hydrangea with vanity, we prefer the more modest connotation of sincerity.  The flower is also related to the 4th wedding anniversary.

Bird of Paradise: A flower truly like none other, the bird of paradise represents extreme joy. Also known as crane flowers, they remind us of origami paper cranes. The bird of paradise is the 9th wedding anniversary flower.

Lily: The lily, like the rose, is often associated with different symbolism depending upon the color. White lilies represent chastity, but can also represent sympathy.  Pink lilies convey prosperity, and lilies of the valley are the 2nd wedding anniversary flower.

One of our favorite wedding ideas is to have each girl carry a different flower bouquet, each in a different color: one carries red roses, one carries purple irises, one carries orange lilies, etc.  Let your imagination paint your floral palette!

How to Get the Perfect Wedding Photos

wedding photo

As Juliet says in romantic comedy Love Actually, “All I want is just one shot of me in a wedding dress that isn’t bright turquoise.” Oh Juliet, many brides have felt for your pain! We hope you never have to go through a similar problem – professional photos that turn out to be rubbish and you have to call up the best man for his footage!

Here are a few tips to making sure your wedding shots are picture perfect:

  • Send the photographer photos of you that you like and ones you don’t. We all have angles we like better in photos, and your photographer will understand better how to make you look as lovely as possible this way!
  • Find examples of other wedding photography you enjoy and make a collection to show your photographer. This way they know all the types of shots you want. Some brides may want more shots of her and her groom, the guests, or the atmosphere and details of the entire wedding, like photos of rings and flowers.
  • Assign a photo wrangler! Pick someone from bridal party to know where you want the photographer at all times. If there’s a special shot you want, the wrangler can make sure the photographer is there to get it. Have the wrangler also find everyone you want in your photos, so no one is left out!

Make sure every special moment is captured just right so you have your choice of photos to put in a wedding picture frame.
