5 Things to Consider When Planning a Destination Wedding

Sunscreen Wedding Favors are Perfect for Destination Weddings!

Sunscreen Wedding Favors are Perfect for Destination Weddings!

Everyone wants to be married in the most beautiful place on Earth. For some, it’s at the top of a mountain. For others, it’s on a private beach as the sun goes down. No matter where you choose to have your destination wedding, it’s important to consider these 5 important factors. They’re essentials for planning and sorting out these details early can help make the rest of the planning journey a breeze!

Here we go:

Budget: This is key for any wedding, but when it comes to destination weddings, this needs to be decided ASAP – before you start buying those adorable sunscreen wedding favors you fell in love with. Sit down with anyone who is helping to pay for the wedding and set out a budget. Make sure you make a list of expenses and from there, you can go on to picking the appropriate destination and details to fit your budget.

Insurance: Purchasing insurance for a destination may be a good idea. After all, you never know what will happen! Talk to your insurance provider about different options or research different insurance options that pertain to your wedding.

Contracts: Brides who are planning destination weddings are often dealing with vendors that are out of state or even out of the country. Keep copies of all important documents, receipts, and contracts. Make sure that all of the dates, times, amounts, locations, phone numbers, and detailed services are outlined correctly in the documents. Have questions? Need assistance? Talk to your attorney before you sign.

Guest List: Destination weddings can cause challenges for some guests, so keep that in mind when planning your guest list. Make sure that the guest list size fits the budget and be clear about the travel arrangements one may need to make to get to the wedding. Have hotel info? Send that along as well to make it easier for your guests.

Travel Arrangements: Contact airlines and try to negotiate a group rate for your wedding. It may save you a lot of time, money, and hassle when it comes to booking the flight. You may also want to use a travel agent to arrange flight and hotel packages for you or your guests.

Did you have a destination wedding? What are your best tips?

Wacky, Weird, and Wonderful Wedding Dresses

Wedding DressHave you ever heard of a bride walking down the aisle in a dress that wasn’t white? Sure – it’s becoming more and more common these days, but think about it, oh, let’s say a decade ago. Wouldn’t that be a bit odd to see a bride walking down the aisle in pink or robin’s egg blue? Dresses have come quite a long way from being pure white creations of silk, satin, or tulle and now, some brides are taking it to the next level. Here are some of the wildest wedding dresses we’ve seen pop up in the past few years:

Toilet Paper Dresses: Oh yes. It’s true! Every year, Cheap Chic Weddings holds its Annual Toilet Paper Wedding Dress Competition where brides can make their wedding gowns out of TP in order to win a $1,000 first price. Each toilet paper dress is judged based on creativity, originality, and overall beauty. The only non-TP materials allowed are tape, glue, and thread. As for walking down the aisle in one? Well, there was this one time in New York City

Duct Tape Wedding Gowns: Back in 2001, a couple exchanged their vows dressed entirely in Duck Tape! The dress, the tux, the accessories, and the decorations were all made from duct tape from the Duck Tape brand. The bride walked down the aisle wearing a gown of white Duck Tape embellished with crystals. You can’t say it wasn’t creative! Would you ever do a Duck Tape Wedding?

Rubber Glove Wedding Gown: Created by British artist Susie MacMurray, a stunning wedding dress made from 1,400 rubber gloves made its appearance at an exhibition at the New York City Museum of Art & Design. As for making a trip down the aisle? Well, we’re sure it would be a snap :)

What’s the wackiest wedding dress you’ve ever seen?

Another Royal Wedding – Complete with Just the Right Amount of Sparkle!

Crystal Rhinestone Hair Comb

Crystal Rhinestone Hair Comb

In yet another royal wedding of the year, Charlene Wittstock wedded Prince Albert II in a beautiful ceremony in Monaco on July 2, 2011 in front of dozens of royals, heads of state, and even some celebrities. Some stars on the guest list? Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld, supermodel Karolina Kurkova, former James Bond actor Sir Roger Moore, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, model Naomi Campbell, and designer Giorgio Armani. It was an elegant affair the people are still buzzing about. Well, actually, it was the dress that caught most wedding watchers’ eyes!

Princess Charlene wore a Georgio Armani Prive off-the-shoulder ivory satin gown adorned with 40,000 Swarovski crystals, gold and pearl hand embroidery on the front and a dramatic train. In a word, it was fit for a princess, especially when you took into account the rest of her outfit. A silk tulle veil draped over her classic low updo added the right amount of mystique while a diamond headpiece and diamond jewelry completed the look. In fact, both she and the prince sparkled with 18-carat white gold platinum rings by Cartier. Prince Albert II looked wonderful too in a stylish white military suit. All in all, a beautiful affair.

Following the ceremony, about 450 guests were invited to lavish dinner prepared by celebrated French-born chef Alain Ducasse. For this special occasion, Princess Charlene wore a sleeveless white gown with tiered ruffles also by Armani Prive. Two wedding gowns? Sounds like a gorgeous experience for any bride!

Want to capture Princess Charlene’s look? Daisy-Days.com has a few accessories that are simply royal and ready to dazzle on your special day! If you want to get a look like hers, the easiest way to do it is through gorgeous crystal or rhinestone hair combs. Princess Charlene’s was a floral creation accented by diamonds. But for your big day, you can accessorize with a gorgeous crystal bridal hair comb or a crystal hair brooch. Simple, chic, and totally elegant!
