Putting Together the Perfect Wedding Candy Buffet

Candy Favor Boxes.jpgWedding candy buffets have become incredibly popular, especially with so many couples trying to DIY their special days to keep the wedding budget down. At Daisy-Days.com, we’ve been loving the look of wedding candy buffets and to help you capture that look on your special day, we’ve put together a quick and easy guide to putting together the perfect wedding candy buffet. Let’s get started.

First, you’re going to need:

Candy containers. You can use clear glass jars, bowls, decorative tins, baskets, glasses, servers…it’s all up to you! If you’re not sure which kind of container to go with, we highly recommend clear glass jars, bowls, and vases. They’re the best for showing off the bright colors of the candy.

Candy scoops. Stainless steel or chrome always looks best!

Candy labels. Attach a label onto the front of the container or use decorative tags or place cards to indicate what candy is inside each jar. Match the labels to your wedding color scheme or theme as an extra special touch.

Candy buffet favor boxes. Candy buffets are a great wedding favor idea and with Sweet Shoppe Candy Buffet Favor Boxes, your guests can take home a little something sweet with them at the end of the evening. Put a bag at each place setting or near the candy buffet table.

Display table. Choose something long enough to accomodate several types of candy, as well as your wedding guests.

Napkins. You never know when there might be a spill!

Candy. Dont’ forget the most important part! Choose candy that matches the colors of your wedding, or just go with some of you and your hubby-to-be’s favorite eats. Just exercise caution: chocolate items melt easily, so it’s usually best to go with harder candies or individually wrapped candies if you want to cut down on the stickiness factor.

Once you have your supplies, it’s time to set up the table. Put the table in an area of your reception space that has plenty of room. It’s likely that the candy buffet will become an area of conversation! Also, up against a wall is usually where most people choose to set up a buffet.

Once the table is set, it’s time to decorate it. Use decorative linens, table cloths, flowers, or other finds to add some dimension to the colorful display. Then, arrange the jars in a formation or on different tiers to make the table look interesting. Add the candies and scoops then label each jar. Once that’s finished, set up your candy buffet favor boxes and you’re ready to go! Voila! A delicious candy buffet.

Congrats to Kim Kardashian & Kris Humphries!

kim-kardashian-wedding-dressEveryone is buzzing over Kim Kardashian’s wedding and we have to say, it was definitely one of the biggest Hollywood nuptials of the year. Set in Montecito, the Kris Humphries & Kim Kardashian wedding featured glamorous details and a black and white color scheme that can only be described as pure glam.

Kardashian wore three custom-made Vera Wang gowns: the first was an ivory ball gown with a full tulle skirt and a basque waist, the second – an ivory georgette mermaid gown with hand cut organza petals, and the third, a bias-cut crepe back ivory satin gown with a circle skirt and V-neckline. Gowns one and two also featured Chantilly lace. How gorgeous is that?!? Factor in the jewels and it’s enough to make this wedding feel like royalty. Kim wore more than $10 million of exclusive Lorraine Schwartz jewels, including a diamond-encrusted circlet headpiece.

Even the invitations were opulent. Designed by Lehr & Black, the invitations were crystal-embellished black-and-white engraved gatefold style with a price tag of $10,000. Plus, the event was catered by celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck and featured amazing decorations, which can be seen on the E! wedding special (yes – it was filmed!).

As for the guest list, it was star-studded. Serena Williams, Robin Thicke, Eva Longoria, Mario Lopez, Demi Lovato, Vera Wang, and Lindsay Lohan are just a sample of the guest list, but one thing is clear: everyone has noted on Twitter and otherwise that it was a great time!

What did you think of Kris and Kim’s nuptials?

Wedding Rice Alternatives

Wedding Bubbles

Wedding Bubbles

The tradition of throwing rice at a wedding is one that we’ve seen honored for centuries. Meant as a symbol of fertility and prosperity, throwing rice is something that many couples choose to have as part of their wedding ceremony. However, in recent years, many couples have examined alternatives to rice. Here are some of the most interesting (and most fun!) options for those who still want to have the tradition – but not the rice grains stuck in their wedding updos!

Bubbles: Instead of handfuls of rice, guests can blow bubbles during the recessional. It’s unique, inexpensive, and is totally eco-friendly! We have some cute wedding bubbles that would be perfect for trying out this new tradition.

Birdseed: Looking for an animal-friendly alternative to rice? Throwing birdseed can be just as good.

Flower Petals: Fragrant, beautiful, and colorful, flower petals can be a great rice alternative. Rose petals, daisy petals, and even lavender buds are popular choices.

Plantable Confetti: Available in our selection in a variety of styles, plantable confetti is an eco-friendly way to celebrate your nuptials. These wedding rice alternatives are made from recycled materials and feature seeds that will be planted as the confetti biodegrades.

Which wedding rice alternative are you dying to try?
